Mortgage fraud: More serious than ever before

On Behalf of The Goldberg Law Firm | Dec 17, 2015 | Mortgage Fraud |

Mortgage fraud has always been a serious crime, but this is even more so the case since the economic collapse several years ago.

It doesn’t matter if you have a mortgage or are thinking of applying for a loan, nothing changes the fact that you need to act within accordance of the law.

A mortgage fraud charge is serious enough. If convicted, this is sure to change a person’s life forever. It could end their professional career, cause personal harm, and of course, land them in prison for an extended period of time.

More homeowners than ever before are being investigated for this crime. Unfortunately, this often means people who are 100 percent innocent are being targeted. Some of the many types of mortgage fraud include: using false tax returns, using false financial statements, application fraud, and escrow fraud.

In addition to homeowners, there are others who can be accused of mortgage fraud. These people include builders, developers, investors, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, appraisers, and underwriters.

It doesn’t matter who you are, why you were charged with mortgage fraud, or what you think will happen in the future, you are now in a difficult position.

Our attorneys know the finer details associated with mortgage fraud, including how the court process will typically unfold. If you or a loved one have been charged, if you are concerned about what the future holds, it is imperative to learn more about your situation and legal rights. Our website is a good place to get started. Visit our “Cleveland Mortgage Fraud Defense Lawyers” webpage to learn more.
