In 2012, an Ohio teen was living in a foster home. At the time, she was 17 years old. After certain events took place in the home, the girl was arrested for murder and now faces felony charges in connection with her foster mother’s death.
According to reports, the woman’s husband began a sexual relationship with the then underage girl. Through this relationship, he allegedly convinced the teen to stab his wife — her foster mother. The victim’s husband was arrested and recently convicted on charges relating to his relationship with the teen and the eventual death of his wife. His sentencing is scheduled for a later date.
At his trial, the teen admitted to being in love with her foster mother’s husband. She was also convinced that he would kill himself if she did not kill her foster mother, and that is what she is now accused of doing. She also testified that the two of them discussed several different methods of killing his wife.
The teen is accused of putting on a ski mask and attacking her foster mother in her bed. The woman suffered approximately 150 cuts and stab wounds. Ohio authorities indicate that the weapon used was a serrated knife 10 inches in length.
The now 19-year-old was recently indicted on felony charges of aggravated murder. Her criminal defense team may have an uphill battle ahead of them, considering the testimony the teen gave regarding her foster father. All of the options available will need to be explored in order to reach a resolution to the charges that provides the best possible outcome for the woman.
