Several arrested on drug charges in southern Ohio

On Behalf of The Goldberg Law Firm | Jan 22, 2014 | Drug Charges |

Authorities estimate that thousands of oxycodone pills are distributed throughout southern Ohio. As such, authorities are always searching for the source of the drugs and the people involved in their distribution. A recent investigation somehow led authorities to four people who were subsequently arrested on drug charges stemming from the sale and distribution of these pills. Reports indicate that more arrests are forthcoming.

Few details are known at this time regarding the circumstances under which the individuals were apparently tied to the distribution of oxycodone pills. The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force was involved in the investigation that led to the indictments. The accused are charged with some 24 separate crimes related to drugs. Two of those charges are first-degree felonies.

The four people were reportedly waiting to be arraigned in Scioto County Common Pleas Court. Cases such as this can be a challenge to defend, particularly if one or more of the accused individuals attempts to testify against the others in exchange for a reduction or dismissal of their charges. Each individual’s criminal defense team will want to carefully assess all of the evidence gathered by law enforcement officials in preparation of the case.

Drug charges that ultimately result in a conviction can carry stiff penalties, including a significant amount of prison time. Fortunately, each individual is innocent in the eyes of the law until and unless proved guilty in a court of law. Further, each of them is entitled to competent representation in order to determine a course of action that seeks the best possible outcome for the individuals.
