Federal drug charges filed against 3 men, 2 are from Ohio

Authorities say that there is a major problem with the abuse of prescription drugs here in Ohio. A recent investigation seems to have revealed that at least a portion of those prescription drugs come into the state through the mail. As that investigation was concluded, federal drug charges have been filed against three men.

Two of the three men that have been charged are from Ohio. According to authorities, the drugs were supposedly mailed from the west coast to the two men in Ohio in packs of anywhere from 200 to 600 pills at a time. They were allegedly hidden in objects such as DVD covers and bubble wrap envelopes through the United States Postal Service Express Mail.

The shipments that were allegedly intended for the two Ohio men were delivered to four Ohio cities: Mansfield, Akron, Lakewood and Seven Hills. Supposedly, the two men received the pills in exchange for a payment of approximately $200 to the person in California. It is asserted that nearly 3,000 pills appearing to be Oxycodone were sent through the mail between August 2013 and April 2013 at the very least.

It was not made clear why it is believed that the two Ohio men were directly involved in trafficking these drugs through the mail. Even if their names were on the packages, that does not necessarily mean that they were the intended recipients, and their rights are still very much intact. It will be up to federal prosecutors to prove whether or not these men are guilty of the drug charges on which they have been indicted.
