3 Ohio correctional officers face felony charges after fight

Fights are not uncommon in correctional facilities here in Ohio or anywhere else in the country. However, the majority of the time, they are handled internally. Recently, outside assistance was called with regard to a fight inside a juvenile correctional facility. As a result, three officers are facing felony charges of assault.

Some of the kits have gone untested for months if not years. Many people who have been accused of felonies such as rape or sexual assault have been waiting for their day in court.

Ohio man faces felony charges after bodies found in trash bags

An Ohio man was arraigned on July 22 after being arrested at his home in Cleveland. Police received a phone call indicating that the man may have been involved in the case of the bodies of three women that were found in trash bags. He did not enter a plea with regard to the felony charges he is facing which include kidnapping and aggravated murder. The man indicated to the court that he did not want to exercise his right to have a preliminary hearing. He is being held on a bond of $6 million.

Ohio couple faces felony charges regarding thefts

A couple has been arrested for a string of thefts that stretch from one Ohio town to another. The Scioto County Sheriff's Department says they received information in the form of a tip that led them to the couple. Both the man and the woman are facing separate felony charges in connection with the burglaries.

Ohio criminal defense: OVI charges filed against trooper

An Ohio State Highway Patrol officer has been placed on administrative duty following an incident at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Austintown. The trooper has been charged with OVI after several people witnessed bizarre behavior on the part of the trooper. He will have a chance to confront these witnesses as part of his criminal defense.

Ohio man faces 329 felony charges and more may yet be filed

The Ohio Attorney General has announced that there is still more evidence to sift through regarding the man recently arrested in connection with the disappearance of three women. This would be in addition to the 329 felony charges already filed against the man. He is currently being held on a bond of $8 million.

Ohio police officer on unpaid leave while facing felony charges

A police sergeant from the Ohio town of Youngstown was investigating a rape case involving a 14-year-old girl. It was then that he allegedly began having inappropriate contact with the girl. He is now on unpaid leave from his department pending the outcome of the felony charges against him.

NTSB's recommendation may only lead to more felony charges

The National Transportation Safety Board has decided to recommend that states reduce their legal blood alcohol limit to 0.05 from 0.08. This has created a lot of debate in Ohio and other jurisdictions. Many believe that its only lasting effect will be more drivers facing felony charges even though they only had a glass of wine with dinner. Whether the state will adopt this new legal limit remains to be seen.
