Can I go to jail for not filing taxes in Ohio?

In all American states, including Ohio, tax evasion is against the law. United States citizens are all expected to pay their taxes and be productive, contributing residents of the country. As far as serving jail time for failing to file yearly tax returns, that would be a rare occurrence. However, it is probably best not to rule out the possibility of imprisonment altogether just to be safe.

What is bribery?

In the state of Ohio, a person may be accused of bribery if they offer to pay or accept payment in exchange for influence in a government or public setting. For example, a person may offer certain property or money in return for favorable treatment. A person may also accept property or money and, in return, provide favorable treatment.

Ohio man admits to multiple car break-ins

A man who was taken into custody on the night of Jan. 9 has indicated to officials that he was involved in a minimum of 20 break-ins involving vehicles in the Ohio City area. The man was apprehended near Detroit Avenue and West 83rd Street by area authorities. He reportedly made his admission while he was in police custody.

Alleged shooter in Ohio store tied to previous robbery

A 19-year-old man alleged to be responsible for a fatal store shooting on Nov. 19 is also facing charges in an incident from the previous night. Officials allege that the man entered a fashion store on the evening of Nov. 18 and stole clothing. According to officers, the clerk noticed that a weapon kept behind the counter was missing. The employee claims that the man pointed the weapon at him and left the store with the clothing and firearm.

Footage shows employee committing workers 'compensation fraud

In Cuyahoga County, Ohio, a worker at a plant is being charged with workers' compensation fraud. The man claimed that he sustained injuries after falling in the production plant where he was employed. While investigating the incident, authorities in the case discovered evidence which indicates that the man may have staged the accident.

Ohio teacher charged for alleged sex crimes against minors

Authorities recently reported that law enforcement officials detained a Switzerland of Ohio School District teacher on multiple charges in connection with sex-related crimes involving minors. According to Monroe County officials, the alleged offenses occurred between Nov. 1, 2013 and Feb. 1, 2014. In early March, law enforcement officials commenced a lengthy investigation into the teacher, ultimately resulting in her recent indictment.

Man pleads guilty to felony charges in murder of Ohio girl

Back in Dec. 1984 here in Ohio, a then 14-year-old girl was on her way to school when she went missing. Sometime later, it was discovered that she was raped and murdered. The man accused of her death recently pleaded guilty to felony charges.

Ohio teen charged with numerous felonies in grandmother's death

In January of this year, an 81-year-old woman was found dead in the basement of her Ohio home. Authorities say that the woman had been stabbed repeatedly. Recently, the deceased woman's grandson was charged with multiple felonies in connection with her death.

Drunk driver gets 15 years for felonies associated with crash

Everyone in Ohio knows that drunk driving is dangerous and can lead to serious consequences. However, after an individual consumes a significant amount of alcohol, his or her capacity to make good decisions is compromised. For one driver, a bad decision led to his recent sentencing for felonies including aggravated vehicular assault and aggravated vehicular homicide.
