Woman faces over 200 felony charges for alleged actions

A single felony is enough to land you in prison. It requires a strong defense to fight against allegations, and even then, you may face penalties for the actions you've taken.

Sometimes, multiple actions can result in multiple felonies of various types. When that happens, it's usually in your best interests to discuss the different charges with your attorney and to understand what each charge means. Some charges are for more heinous crimes, while others are used when a crime is accidental or less severe.

This case is a great example of why a defense is important. A woman from Zanesville has been charged and indicted on 231 felonies, a shocking number, as a result of allegedly embezzling $150,000 or more from a local fire department. The Muskingum County Sheriff could not comment on how the woman obtained the funds or when the offenses occurred.

Despite that, the officer was able to release information on the charges and when the crimes were discovered. The crimes took place sometime before Feb. 2016 and were discovered that month. The woman has now been charged with hundreds of felonies including forgery, theft and money laundering. If she is convicted, she faces over 200 years in prison for her actions.

If you face charges like this, your attorney will work to reduce the number of charges against you as well as the types of charges and their severity. You have a right to protect yourself and your reputation, to face a fair day in court and to know what to expect if you are convicted.
