Couple arrested and charged for fentanyl-related crimes

Mailing drugs through the mail is not always illegal, but it is when you do not have a prescription or the authority for that delivery. If you mail drugs to a person who does not have a prescription, it's a violation of law. Additionally, receiving drugs through the mail without a prescription can result in prosecution.

In a case in Ohio, a couple is facing charges for mailing and receiving packages of fentanyl, a powerful drug used during surgeries. The opioid has the potential to be used illicitly, which is why it is tightly restricted.

The couple, made up of a 30-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, have both been charged with illegally importing the drug with the intent to distribute and possess it. They allegedly sold the drugs to agents working for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on the dark web not knowing that they were delivering drugs to federal agents.

The packages were received in Ohio, and the agents tested them to determine what the drugs contained. The lab results showed that it was fentanyl, fentanyl analogues and carfentanil.

It has been alleged that the couple lives in a home that receives international mail. Then, they ship packages across the United States containing drugs. The 30-year-old man admitted to mailing around 35 packages that contained the opioid, but he maintained that it was the woman who bought, sold and packaged the product.

If you are accused of participating in a crime like this, it's wise to discuss your case with your attorney as soon as possible. There's a chance you can have the charges against you reduced or dismissed.
