A baseball player at Westerville Central High School in Westerville, Ohio, was recently released from jail on a $7,585 bond for charges of abduction and the possession of drugs. The circumstances surrounding the case involve the 18-year-old and his juvenile girlfriend.
According to the report the girl made with police, on Feb. 26, she was sitting in the man’s car in front of her house in Gahanna. She didn’t have any shoes on and the weather was cold and rainy. She said he was trying to convince her to have sex. She got out of the vehicle at one point and started walking home, but he told her he would drive her home if she got in the car.
After she got back in the car, the girl reported that he said the two would have sex whether the girl liked it or not. The girl also said that her boyfriend told her that she “made a big mistake by not agreeing to have sex with him in the first place.” He also allegedly told the girl that he was “not only going to rape [her] but we were headed to his friend’s house so they could rape me, too.”
The girl escaped out of the vehicle and started walking again. She said he followed her, reaching under his seat while asking “if he needed to get a gun out.” The girl said that he then commented that if she didn’t get back in the car he would shoot himself.
She walked to a bar and called her mother, who notified the police. Once the mother and her daughter got home, they saw the man sitting in his vehicle close to their house. Officers were able to locate and arrest him. Officers reported that the man had a Vicodin on him, which is what the drug charge was for.
In many cases that involve a boyfriend and girlfriend, the case will come down to “he said/she said.” An attorney can provide guidance in these types of cases so that the charges or penalties may be mitigated in some instances.
