Police search turns into 3 arrests on drug charges

Three young people were arrested on Dec. 4 after police searched an Ohio home they were in and found drugs and drug paraphernalia. A fourth person also in the home was not charged at that time.

Police executed search activity after receiving complaints about possible drug activity in the neighborhood. The complaints were reported by a resident in the area who said another resident was selling marijuana and methamphetamine. The police reportedly sought additional evidence and didn't act on this information until they had probable cause to search a home in the area.

According to reports, police arrived at the home the evening of Dec. 4. A joint task force of officers reportedly reached out to the homeowner in question, who gave permission for a search of the house. The police found four people in a bedroom and reported that drug paraphernalia was in view when they entered the room.

Police continued to search the home and found marijuana and meth along with cash and items that might be used to distribute the drugs, such as baggies, twist ties and scales. The three individuals who were arrested were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substances in the first degree, trafficking of controlled substances in the first degree and trafficking of marijuana.

Two of the individuals charged were 18 years old; the other individual was 19 years old. No matter what your age is, drug charges -- particularly trafficking charges -- are very serious. Some of these charges come with mandatory minimum sentences, so working with a legal professional to build a strong criminal defense for yourself is important to reducing any consequences associated with the charges.
